After turning 50, I stopped taking my eyes for granted and started to protect them.

For years I sunbathed, frequently without wearing sunglasses. Rarely did I think about how I might be harming my eyes, and adding to my crows feet due to all the squinting I was doing while basking in the sun’s rays.

For sure, all this bad behavior has come back to haunt me in different ways: dark spots, basal cell carcinoma on my chest (removed with Moh’s Surgery), more freckles and wrinkles, and even a suspicious spot on my eye.

But, that was a very long time ago.

After turning 50 I took control of all aspects of my health and well-being, including protecting my eyes from the sun and wind.

How? I never, ever leave home without donning a cool pair of super-stylish sunglasses.

In summer, when the sun is at its highest and hottest, my glasses are bigger and darker, to make sure the entire eye area, not just my eyes, are covered and protected.

photo-3Now that it’s fall and the days will start to get shorter and the sun less intense, I’ll bring out my fabulous new pair of sunglasses that are not quite as dark, and can be worn almost until the sun has set. They’re my new absolute favorites: Prada 510 from the Fall 2014 Collection. They flatter almost every shape face, feel light, and do the job of protecting our eyes and entire eye area.

What’s not to like?

I nearly always wear sunglasses to protect my eyes now even in winter if there is any sun about. I am fairly paranoid about sun protection as I have also had Mohs surgery.
