While I’m a big believer in “living in the now” . . . I also know that as a woman over 50 I need to stay focused on my future, too.

And that includes keeping a keen eye on my probable expenses.

It turns out that as we get older, one of our biggest costs can be for health care. But, according to AARP, most of us don’t have a good handle on our potential medical costs at all. And, we’re often lulled into thinking that once we’re over 65, Medicare will kick in and cover everything.

I recently sat down with Laura Bos from AARP to find out more about how we can calculate our health care costs by using a new tool–the Health Care Cost Calculator–created by AARP in collaboration with OptumHealth.
