Listen to the conversation between two women who ran the recent NYC Marathon HERE

In 2018, the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation created the ‘Be Bone Strong’ NYC Marathon Team. I’m honored to serve as Team Captain.

On Sunday, November 6th, 2022, the twelve members of the BHOF team ran what ended up being the hottest, most humid, and hardest NYC marathon in recent history.

I was fortunate enough to meet up with one of the team runners — Mary Newell — around mile 4, and together we ran, talked, and laughed, and complained (that would be me) for another 22.2 miles.

It was a day — and a marathon — like no other.

A big chunk of the conversation Mary and I had was about why we run. We both had our own very personal reasons for how we started, and why we keep at it, which we discuss in the podcast episode. More importantly, we spoke a great deal about what we do to help our ‘over 60’ bodies stay in running shape so we can keep running marathons — if that’s what we want to do — for the rest of our lives.

Take a little break and tune in. Or better yet, lace up your sneakers and take a walk or run while you listen to us laugh, talk, and relive the six hours we spent together running the greatest marathon in the world.
